Bookmarks and Poems to describe our second orientation
day from May 19th

Zooming in on a moment
We discover Pink and Say
Graphic organizers help us focus
As the story unfolds…

With new collaborations
The time quickly flies.
We want to work together
And also understand the why.

Sheldon Curtis, Pinkus Aylee
and Moe Moe Bay,
Less famous than the railroad
or even John Brown,
Let’s reclaim your stories and
also pass them down.

Claudette Colvin fought Jim Crow
when she was just fifteen.
She went to jail for justice,
and we just learned her name.

/\\\/\\\/\\\
They say Rosa sat, Martin marched,
and Obama ran so our children could fly.
I say remember Claudette and all the
Young people who take on battles
and remember to try.

We began our essays on a
metaphor,
And we also got online.
We joined committees, met new
friends, and learned new
lessons in short time.

Writing, sharing, asking
questions,
we talked and listened
on our second day.
Teaching, learning, reflecting,
growing, reaching out and
looking in.

Summer sun and
unexpected rain, we
see demonstration lessons
start to grow like
budding plants.
Mentors guide the process
while we tend the ground.
Fruits & flowers,
sun & weeds –
Our classroom is our
garden…
